Our Company Story

North Point Personal Training - a story of success

North Point Personal Training was founded by one client’s success and one trainer’s idea. Like many small businesses, the catalyst to creating the business is some type of change in a person’s life.

In 1991 company founder, Rick Mayo, helped one of his client’s lose 80 lbs and sparked a friendship in the process. The two would often talk of business ideas after their workouts. Rick expressed interest in creating a studio environment where other trainers could assist him with all of the referrals that he received but couldn’t service. The client thought it was a great idea and before you knew it, a plan was hatched.

In December, 1992, Good Bodies Inc. was founded. The concept was to provide personal training services to clients in an environment unlike the big, impersonal health clubs so that clients would have the ideal setting for success. Well, it worked! The company experienced immediate growth due to its unique nature. Good Bodies was the first personal training center in the Atlanta area.

Soon after, Rick purchased all of the company shares and met his wife Andrea. She was working in sports medicine so it was a match made in heaven (she may beg to differ!). The melding of their styles helped to elevate the business to new heights and provide more services to their clients.

North Point Personal Training was created in March of 2005 to represent the growth and evolution of Good Bodies Inc. The same friendly staff remains and provides the level of service that the community has come to expect. North Point Personal Training wants the client not only to look good but also to feel great! The new name and motto reflect that philosophy.

Rick and Andrea are so very thankful for the opportunity to work together and help others in a business for which they have a true passion. They have been blessed with a wonderful family of staff and clients.

North Point Personal Training was founded on the success of one client and built by the successes of countless others!
