FAQs

  • NorthPoint trains the body in relation to how humans are designed to move. We find training in relation to human biomechanics provides the most sustainable and impactful results so you can get back to doing what you love without the pains of traditional traditional rehab or training.

  • We work with active adults of all levels—from weekend warriors to athletes—who want to eliminate pain, improve performance, or optimize their movement. Common conditions include chronic pain, joint issues, post-surgical rehab, and performance plateaus.

  • The term “functional” gets thrown around a lot without a clear answer on what it is. When we look at how humans are designed to move, we see patterns of movement that have specific muscle groups working together at specific times to move the body. The better the body uses these movement patterns, the more efficient its movement becomes in all other aspects of life. If training does not respect the fundamentals of walking, running, or throwing, it won’t carry over to or improve other movements.

  • This varies depending on your goals, history, and complexity. Some clients come in for short-term care, while others integrate regular sessions into their long-term training for injury prevention and performance.

  • Wear comfortable, athletic clothing that allows for movement. We’ll likely be working on dynamic patterns and movement exercises.

  • Cash-based physical therapy means we are out-of-network with insurance companies. Payment is collected at the time of your visit, but you may be eligible for reimbursement from your insurance company.

Operating in this context allows us to focus all of our attention on our clients for the best possible results.

  • Insurances have been reimbursing less for treatment services, with increasing restrictions on treatment. This can cause standard physical therapy clinics to try to treat as many patients as possible, often leading to multiple bookings at the same time and decreased quality of care. We don’t want to operate under restrictions from insurance companies and feel one-on-one care is necessary for your outcomes.

  • Yes! Physical therapy is an eligible expense under most Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). Be sure to check with your provider for specific rules.

  • No referral is required. Massachusetts allows direct access to physical therapy services, so you can schedule your appointment directly with us.

  • You can book online through our website, call us directly, or send us a message. We'll get back to you ASAP to find a time that works.
